Principal's Message
Dear Terry Fox Families and Community Members
Terry Fox Elementary is a K-Gr 5 school, built in 1982. We are located in Central Abbotsford in the Babich Park neighborhood, and are pleased to be known as a community oriented school. We are very proud to be named after one of the most celebrated Canadians of all time - Terry Fox. We have approximately 280 students, a diverse student body, and a small but active PAC. We pride ourselves on taking a holistic individualized approach to educating each child, focusing on mind, body and social-emotional wellness. We are known for having a caring team who work collaboratively to provide exceptional learning experiences for children with diverse needs. We offer a number of wrap around supports and programs to engage and support learners. Support personnel include a full time Youth Care Worker, an Indigenous Support Worker, a Counselor, 2 ELL teachers and 2 Learning Support teachers in addition to classroom teachers and Educational Assistants. We also provide a daily breakfast and lunch program and a weekly supplemental groceries program for families in need.
At Terry Fox we are striving to:
- Build respectful and trusting relationships throughout our connected school community
- Create inclusive, equitable and harmonious classroom cultures that make students accountable partners in their own learning
- Develop each child’s curiosity, creativity, and self-discipline as we joyfully explore curricula together
- Work as a collaborative team of hopeful, authentic and compassionate educators
Students, we are honored to watch you grow and succeed as you learn with us here at Fox. You are the heart of all we do. Families, thank you for entrusting the most precious people in your life to our care. We will strive to earn and keep your trust.
Warmly,
- Mrs. Kari Petzold, Principal
